Players new to the sport will be put in touch with one of our qualified coaches on expressing an interest in joining the club. All you will need is a pair of flat shoes. Sessions will be arranged to show you the basics of the game and give you a chance to try bowling before paying any subscription to the club or needing to buy any equipment of your own. All members can always contact one of the Club’s four coaches to arrange individual sessions.
Immediately on joining the Club, you will be welcomed at club activities. On Friday evenings (normally 6pm to 8pm) there is a Club roll-up, hosted and organised by a Committee Member. There is also a roll up for ladies on Tuesdays (2pm to 4pm). The green is normally open every day from 10.30am for casual play unless there is a pre-arranged fixture – a diary of these is kept in the Clubhouse.
Friendly Matches Against Other Clubs
These are advertised on a game by game basis on the notice board in the Clubhouse. To be considered for selection you just write your name on the list. This is a good opportunity for less experienced players to get involved in matches, in a relaxed and friendly environment.
League Matches
For the more competitively minded, we run 3 men’s and 3 ladies’ league teams competing against other clubs in North and East Cornwall. Teams are selected from pools of players who have previously registered.
Club Competitions
Entry into any of the numerous internal club competitions (men, ladies and mixed) is again by signing up on lists in the Clubhouse. Draws are then posted on the notice board.
Many Club members play short mat bowls during the outdoor close season on two mats in the Clubhouse.
Roll-ups are held on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and on Tuesday mornings. League and friendly matches against other clubs and club competitions are played throughout the Winter.
